KoalaBye is a private, non-commercial open-source project. This notice explains what the application processes, what it deliberately avoids collecting, and which responsibilities remain with the operator of each instance.
Who operates this instance
The operator details and contact information configured for this instance are shown above. The official KoalaStuff contact is admin@koalastuff.net. Self-hosted operators must replace these details with their own.
What KoalaBye is used for
KoalaBye is used to collect anonymous, privacy-friendly feedback when users uninstall a browser extension or app.
Purpose and legal basis
The operator processes submitted feedback and minimized visit data to understand technical problems and improve the relevant project. Depending on the deployment and applicable law, the operator must determine and document an appropriate legal basis, commonly a legitimate interest in improving a voluntarily used service.
Instance account data
Visitors who leave feedback do not receive an account. Administrators and invited team members use local accounts containing a username, display name, password hash, and optionally an email address.
Campaign feedback data
Campaign owners receive submitted answers, submission timestamps, and minimized visit linkage. Free-text answers can contain information entered by the respondent.
Optional diagnostics
Campaign owners may enable coarse referrer-domain, browser-family, operating-system-family, and allowlisted URL-context collection. Raw IP addresses and raw user agents are not stored by KoalaBye.
URL context parameters
When enabled, only documented allowlisted keys are stored. Campaign owners must not place names, email addresses, account identifiers, or other personal data in these parameters.
Partial responses
Partial-response collection is currently off. KoalaBye does not silently save text drafts; text answers are stored only on final submission.
What is not collected
KoalaBye does not store IP addresses, raw user agents, raw install tokens, full referrer URLs, device fingerprints, or cross-campaign visitor profiles.
Cookies and local storage
Public campaign pages do not set cookies. An explicit theme choice may be stored in localStorage. Authenticated application pages use security and language-preference cookies.
Hosting and server logs
KoalaBye does not write IP addresses to its database. Network infrastructure, a reverse proxy, or a hosting provider may still process IP addresses transiently and may keep access logs unless the operator disables or minimizes them. Those systems are controlled by the operator, not by KoalaBye.
Retention
Campaign owners can configure a retention period and manually delete old visits and submissions. Until deletion is performed, data remains in the instance database and its backups according to the operator's backup policy.
Your rights
Where data protection law applies, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and complaint to a supervisory authority. Contact the operator shown above. Anonymous records may be impossible to locate without a submission identifier or other matching information.
Self-hosting note
Each self-hosted KoalaBye operator controls its own deployment and database and must publish privacy information appropriate to that operation.
Campaign owner responsibility
Campaign owners decide the form questions and optional diagnostics. They must avoid requesting or encoding personal data that is unnecessary for the campaign.
